Matcha Latte is a blend of fine Japanese matcha, fruit pectin, and sugar. Matcha is made fine young tea leaves, shaded for 2 - 3 weeks, then plucked, heated, dried, and ground into a powder. This blend makes a wonderful, sweet, rich drink, especially with milk or soy.
Matcha is the traditional green tea powder used in Japanese tea ceremony. The plants are shaded for two or three weeks prior to plucking the leaves. This raises the chlorophyll content, giving the dried powder its deep green color, and also increases vitamin and amino acid content. As one is consuming the actual leaf, as opposed to drinking the brew steeped from the leaf, caffeine intake is higher, but available nutrient count is also elevated.
The matcha used in our blend is a high grade, but to it is added fruit pectin, as a thickener, and sugar. It makes a wonderful drink - not too sweet - and foams up very nicely (due to the pectin), so one can get an idea of what traditional tea ceremony tea might look like.

For best results, be sure to pre-warm your mug or pot with a splash of hot water. Whisk one level tablespoon of Matcha Latte blend into 10 oz of hot (200°) water until it is foamy, then add 2 oz (1/4 cup) of hot milk, soy, cream, etc., and enjoy!
Mix the above Matcha powder quantity with half the amount of hot water. Allow it to cool, then stir in 6 oz of cold milk or soy, pour over ice, and enjoy! The brew will dilute down to proper strength as the ice melts.
