The Red Ornament Pu-erh cake is manufactured by the highly respected Menghai Factory, the largest Pu-erh producer in the world.
This is a "cooked" or "ripe" Pu-erh, meaning that the aging process has been simulated during the production of the tea. This yields tea with much of the smoothness and character of a naturally aged Pu-erh, but without the 15-50 year delay.
14 oz. of tea - Makes approx. 200 cups.
BREWING INSTRUCTIONS:
BY THE CUP: To brew 8 ounces of your Pu-erh cake, break off one teaspoon's worth of dry leaf into an infuser and put that into your mug. One cup of water at anywhere between 195° and boiling is poured over it all. Now be patient for 3 to 10 minutes (10 minutes if you want it black as coffee - not that we know what coffee looks like!), then remove the infuser and drink. If the shortest steep time is used, this stuff can be infused 3 times!
BY THE POT: As above, you will need to break off as many teaspoons of dry leaf into your infuser as cups you wish to drink. Next, place the infuser in your pot and fill the pot with the appropriate amount of 195°-to-boiling water and let it sit for 3 to 10 minutes, depending on how dark & strong you want your brew. If cooler water is used or the steeping time is kept to 3 minutes, the same leaves can be infused 3 times. Remove the infuser before drinking and be sure to watch how strong the brew is going!
Pu-erh teas typically have as much, if not more caffeine than black teas.
