Focus on Japanese Tea
May is harvesting time for the finest Japanese green teas. Japanese greens are known for their delicious buttery, brothy, marine, and nutty flavors. One example, Tencha, is the leaf used to make ceremonial Matcha, which is powdered tea used in the tea ceremony. Tencha leaves are shaded for 2 weeks prior to plucking to boost their chlorophyll content, giving Matcha its bright green color. We love Matcha here at JP, as well as our other Japanese green teas: Mayucha, Bancha, Kukicha and Genmaicha. Stop in and sample some at our shop!
